Each month, we'll give nine awards to spotlight the people, colleges, and organizations that are doing innovative things for FGLI students.
Each of the winners will receive a digital badge that can be used on LinkedIn and other online platforms.

Sofia Rodriguez is a junior at Syracuse University and is from Miami Gardens, FL. She is a Posse Foundation Scholar and was chosen as Co-Senior Class Marshall, a prestigious award.
Georgetown University is crushing it with its Stand Up For Georgetown event. The list of comedians features alums. Proceeds go to its Georgetown Scholars Program for FGLI students.

Wild Card!
May's winner is Better Make Room for its College Signing Day program, which provides a tool kit so each student who was accepted to college can celebrate like an elite athlete.
This month's media winner is a Best Book: Maid by Stephanie Land. It's also a streaming series on Netflix. It's the story of a low-income, single mother determined to go to college.
Yale University is the Wild Card winner this month for its innovative conference for its FGLI alumni affinity network. Let's hope it started a trend other colleges will follow.

Carlos Mark Vera is Co-Founder and Executive Director of the non-profit Pay Our Interns, and co-author of a research report called Experience Doesn't Pay the Bills.
