Each month, we'll give nine awards to spotlight the people, colleges, and organizations that are doing innovative things for FGLI students.
Each of the winners will receive a digital badge that can be used on LinkedIn and other online platforms.

Student Superstar
Sherlean is a first-gen senior at Marquette University majoring in Political Science. She has presented research as a Mcnair Scholar, interned for Rep. Gwen Moore, and volunteered with AmeriCorps.
"You've got this!" is the message that Saint Mary's College is sending to FGLI students. Their five-part video series highlights first-gen students and their advice for how to survive college.

Josh is an accomplished first-gen college graduate. As a fire-born speaker, he strives to model vulnerability, empathy, and authenticity in everything he does.

FirstGenU is a free and virtual 10-module program specifically for FGLI students that focuses on developing workplace skills and leadership experience. Applications are due December 12th.
The film First Voice Generation, directed and produced by Cynthia Martinez, follows the stories of 3 Latinx high-school students who dream of being the first in their families to go to college.
Each October is College Changes Everything Month in the State of Illinois. Students and families can get free help with college applications and the 2024-2025 FAFSA.
