Each month, we'll give nine awards to spotlight the people, colleges, and organizations that are doing innovative things for FGLI students.

Donovan is a Dec. '23 first-gen grad from NYU, with a B.A. in public policy. He was selected as a Rhode Scholar, and will study at the University of Oxford in England starting this fall.

Sacramento State will open a Black Honors College this fall-- the first of its kind. Many of Sac State's students are FGLI (34% are first-gen and 56% are limited-income).

Dr. Gammage is a Professor and Chair of Africana Studies at California State University, Northridge. She's a first-gen grad and a strong advocate for DEI in higher education.

The Burial is a 2023 film based on a true story about Willie E. Gary, played by Jamie Foxx. Gary was a first-gen grad who went to law school and became a successful attorney.
